November 2023 um 18.00 Uhr im Palais Meran, Kleiner Saal:<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Dialogic Ethnography in Musik: Improvisation, Networks &amp; Gender(Im)Balance<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/jazzresearch.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/Screenshot-2023-11-07-133436.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This brief talk explores the role of dialogic ethnography as common methodological approach to three main strands in my research:<\/p>\n<p>interdisciplinarity in music improvisation, music festivals and networks in Europe, and gender (im)balance in the music industry.<br \/>\nDialogic ethnography encourages researchers to be reflexive and self-aware about their own perspectives and biases. In my case it has allowed for a more inclusive and participatory research process and has served as a bridge between practice-led research and traditional ethnographic work. This will be illustrated with a few of my recent research projects and outputs and presented as an opportunity to promote debate and find potential synergies and future collaborations with colleagues across KUG.<\/p>\n<p>Jos\u00e9 Dias is a musician and researcher in Critical Practice at the Centre for Arts, Memory and Communities at Coventry University. As an author he published\u00a0Jazz in Europe: Networking and Negotiating Identities (Bloomsbury, 2019) and Festa do Jazz (INCM, 2020) and directed the documentary Those Who\u00a0Make It Happen (2016).
